As a leading provider of satellite communications to the world's harshest and most remote environments, CapRock Communications has deployed services in scorching deserts, steaming jungles, the open ocean and even to hurricane-ravaged coastal cities. That's why Vine Trust, an international relief agency, asked CapRock to provide advanced satellite services to the Amazon Hope 2, a ship that serves as a floating medical, dental and surgery unit. Amazon 2 is currently planning a voyage to Peru, where it will provide medical services to people living in remote regions of the upper Amazon River.
CapRock will provide the Amazon Hope 2 with satellite telephone and data services to enable crew members, medical staff and relief workers to stay in contact with co-workers and family while halfway around the world. To assist in the charitable agency's cause, CapRock's UK and Brazilian offices are providing free calls for the expeditionary members from March - July 2006.
"At CapRock, we provide critical communications services in some of the world's toughest environments, and the Amazon certainly qualifies as one of those places," said Ian Ford, Managing Director of CapRock Communication's UK operations. "We are happy to be able to support Vine Trust by providing the Amazon Hope 2 with the satellite communications they need."
Willie McPherson Executive Director of the Vine Trust said, "We are absolutely delighted with CapRock's generous support for the delivery voyage of Amazon Hope 2."
The Vine Trust, a registered Scottish Charity, aims to provide healthcare for up to 100,000 people on the Peruvian Amazon and its tributaries, while at the same time developing homes and educational programs for homeless children in Lima and Iquitos, Peru. More information about Vine Trust and their volunteer programs is available on the Web at www.vinetrust.org.
